The 28th Sub-Junior National Artistic Gymnastics Championships were jointly organized by Mumbai City Gymnastics Association (MCGA), Mumbai Physical Culture Association (BPCA) and Maharashtra Amateur Gymnastics Association (MAGA) under the aegis of Gymnastics Federation of India at Bhartiya Krida Mandir (BPCA), Wadala Mumbai from the 26th to the 28th of January 2018. The entire gymnastics community was excited about the competition since this was the first national championships in over 2 years. The competition saw a lot of new talent and aspiring gymnasts hoping to one day represent the country and win medals at the international level. The need to develop Indian gymnastics and bring world class infrastructure led us to formulate the Indian Gymnastics League. The competition will be held in Mumbai at the Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul in Vile Parle (E) from the 1st to the 3rd of December, 2017. The World Gymnastics Championships were held earlier this year in Montreal, Canada from the 2nd to the 8th of October. The first championships held after the post Olympic year is one where there is no team competition. Gymnasts must contend for individual event and all round medals. Every country is permitted to send a delegation of four female and four male gymnasts. After the success of Dipa Karmakar last year at the Olympics, the scale should move upward with better performances and more exposure for the gymnasts competing at the international stage.
